Mmmmmm. Chicago. Mmmmmmm. Yummy fun movie with lots of girls dancing and singing in lingerie. How could it go wrong?

Seriously, though, it put me in a great mood and I danced from the moment I left the theater until we were in the courtyard of the apartment complex, where I only stopped dancing because D pulled me to him and kissed me under the moon and wished me a Happy Valentine's Day, and then we danced together slowly for a couple of minutes, and then I was all dreamy and everything.

We're going to the jewelry store in the morning. And then to Commander's Palace for lunch. And then to the Ford dealership to possibly get a new truck in the afternoon.

I just look at that sentence and gape. New jewelry, new vehicle, and the fancy-shamanciest place in New Orleans for lunch. It's like someone pinched me and made me rich.

Too bad that it's entirely deceiving. :)

I love you, D. Happy Valentine's Day. Just think, next year when I'm saying Happy Valentine's Day, it'll be to my husband.

As I mentioned to Kathy after we watched it, it is hard to compare the two movies. While both musicals, and both movies, they have entirely different structures. Moulin Rouge sticks with the classic movie musical scenario. When the musical number kicks in, explication of the plot and most character development are put on hold, while they kids do their singing and dancing.

Chicago is a stylized Broadway dance/musical on film, where the plot is pushed forward through the music (one of the court scenes is a musical number, for example). All of the musical numbers /look/ like they are being performed on stage, as well.

I liked them both. Right now, I couldn't tell you which one I like more. Let me see Chicago again, and then I'll tell you.
