Interview VII

1. which condiments do you currently have in your fridge, and which ones are you missing because you ran out?

About four quadzillion of them, because I not only have mine, but I have all the ones that the Doc bequeathed to us upon his passing into the land known as Bloomington. I think I'm out of ketchup, because I'm almost always out of ketchup, because it goes so fast. I have lots of sriracha and various flavors of mustards. We like mustard. I have three different barbecue sauces, almost none of which we use since we tend to make our own. Soy sauces of various qualities (every day cooking, sushi, etc.). I think I might be out of mayonnaise, cause we only use it for tuna salad, and don't restock regularly. Lots and lots of various kinds of salsas, salad dressings, and "marinades".

2. 4:30am, 2pm, or 11:50pm, and why?

If I'm working a nine-to-five, then 11:50, because it means sleep. If I'm not, then 2 p.m., because it means I'm just getting started and have a full day ahead of me. I love potential. And if I'm not working at all, and enjoying a vacation, the 4:30 a.m. Just because.

3. is 3 a magic number? why or why not?

Three... it's a magic number.... because School House Rocks says so! And it seems magical in all its various metaphysical ways, but to me its no more magical than any other number. Which, to be honest, is pretty magical. Because numbers just are. (Numbers are the 4, 5, 6, 7 wonders of the woooooorld....)

4. the most brilliant perfumer in the world decides to make an essence of cai; which ingredients do they use, why, and what does the essence smell like?

It smells like those damn trees outside of Oak Alley -- the same trees that dot the landscape around the English building at Tulane, and the same trees that I /thought/ were sweet olive, but I think, in retrospect aren't. Sweet and fragrant and delicious and the best scent in the world. And a little bit of an iron smell, because there needs to be blood in any essence of cai. And some of the Apple shampoo smell from Bath and Body Works, because that's a very Cai smell. And a light smattering of rain water and mud. Something definitely light, but with undercurrents of strong and earthy. Seems very cai like. :)

5. glass, metal, or stone, and why?

Stone, of all varieties. Precious, semi-precious, not-at-all-precious, the-kind-that-sticks-to-the-tracking-of-your-tennis-shoes. All of it. I don't know why, to be honest. I like stone. I like the feel of stone walls and the look of big fortresses and castles made of stone. It's cool and damp, sure, but it's just so /romantic/ (in the original sense, as opposed to the lovey-dovey sense). I'm a big fan of romance architecture with lots of stone. And I love jewel stones. So yeah. That's why.
